The Career Services Coordinator collaborates with area businesses, community organizations and local colleges to establish internships, work cooperatives, and educational opportunities for Dover High School students.  Many experiences carry high school or college credit.  Students discover that what they learn in school is directly related to the world of work and educational goals.

At Career Services, students explore career options; they can:

  • Do a job shadow (observe an employee perform everyday duties);
  • Conduct an informational interview (speak with a person who has a job that is similar to their career interest;
  • Tour a business or community organization;
  • Listen and ask questions of guest speakers who talk about their work or company;
  • Participate in community projects;
  • Take assessments that uncover their occupational strengths and interests that can lead to satisfying careers

Students learn how to play the "job search game"; they can:

  • Assemble a cover letter and resume that documents value to an employer;
  • Fill out job applications that demonstrate competence and skill;
  • Answer interview questions with confidence while addressing employer concerns.

Students can apply for credit for their part-time job, internship, or long-term volunteer work.
